Case Study
Building Local Search Visibility for a Regional Home Services Company
DaleyPWS helped an established plumbing, heating, and air conditioning company turn an outdated website with almost no organic search traffic into a strong source of online visibility. The work included a complete website rebuild, local SEO, ongoing content, and Google Ads across a four-county service area.
The Challenge
The company had been serving homeowners throughout the Mid-Hudson Valley for several years, but its website did not reflect the scope of the business.
Plumbing, heating, and air conditioning were all grouped together on a single page. There was little content devoted to individual services or the four counties the company served, and the site had never been structured with search visibility in mind.
Organic traffic was under 100 visits per month when the work began.
This was not a situation where changing a few page titles or adding keywords would have been enough. The website needed to be reorganized so both customers and search engines could clearly understand what the company offered and where it worked.
Rebuilding the Website Around the Business
We redesigned the website, moved it to a newer content management system, and rebuilt the site structure around the company’s actual services and service area.
Instead of one page trying to cover everything, plumbing, heating, and air conditioning became distinct sections of the site. Individual service pages were created beneath them, along with county and service-area pages supporting the company’s four-county market.
Navigation, URLs, internal linking, and page copy were also revised so related services and locations connected naturally.
This gave someone searching for a specific problem—whether it was air conditioning repair, boiler service, plumbing work, or another need—a much clearer path into the site.
It also gave search engines individual pages that could match those more specific searches.
Building Visibility With Useful, Seasonal Content
Once the site had a stronger structure, we supported it with regular content.
At the beginning of the engagement, new articles were published about once a week. As the site matured, the schedule moved to approximately two posts per month.
Topics followed the kinds of questions homeowners actually had throughout the year.
Spring and summer brought content around air conditioning preparation and cooling problems. Fall and winter shifted toward heating, boilers, frozen pipes, and cold-weather issues. Other articles addressed maintenance, plumbing problems, and what homeowners should do when an emergency occurred.
Seasonality gave the content a practical focus. The site could emphasize the services people were most likely to need at different times of year while continuing to build useful information around the company’s core services.
Growing Organic Search From Almost Nothing
The site’s search visibility grew substantially over time.
Among 36 primary organic search terms being tracked:
- 17 reached the #1 position
- 26 ranked in the top 10
- All 36 ranked within the top 20
Those rankings covered the company’s service and geographic targets rather than depending on one unusually successful keyword.
Organic traffic also grew from fewer than 100 visits per month at the beginning of the work to more than 1,300 monthly organic visits in later reporting.
That mattered because a regional home-services company needs to appear for many different combinations of need and location. Someone searching for heating service in one county may have little in common with someone looking for emergency plumbing in another.
The website needed enough depth to compete across that range.
Supporting Organic Search With Google Ads
DaleyPWS also managed the company’s Google Ads campaigns.
Paid search was separated by service rather than treating plumbing, heating, and air conditioning as one generic campaign. That made it possible to align keywords, ads, and landing experiences more closely with what the customer was looking for.
HubSpot landing pages were also integrated into the website at one point to support more focused campaigns.
In one representative month, the site generated 3,387 visits, including:
- 1,379 from organic search
- 1,252 from paid search
By then, organic and paid search were both meaningful sources of website traffic.
The company handled most of its own Google Business Profile activity, although DaleyPWS provided support and optimization assistance when needed.
The Result
DaleyPWS worked with the company for approximately six years across two periods.
Over that time, the website went from receiving very little search traffic to holding strong rankings across the company’s major services and geographic markets.
More importantly, the search program became broader than any one tactic.
The website structure supported the services the company wanted to sell. Seasonal content gave the site new ways to answer customer questions. Organic search created ongoing visibility, while Google Ads provided additional reach for high-intent searches.
The project also reinforced a lesson that still applies to local SEO today:
You cannot build a strong search presence on top of a website that does not clearly reflect the business itself.
For this company, the biggest gains began with getting the fundamentals right—separating the services, representing the geographic market properly, and giving each important topic enough room to be understood. SEO and content were much more effective once that structure was in place.
